INAUGURAL - SELECTED WORK
July 6 - July 25, 2016
ATELIER NEWPORT will celebrate its Grand Opening on Sunday, July 10th. A champagne reception will be held from 2:00 to 5:00PM, at the newly renovated gallery, located at 200 Bellevue Ave, along the historic International Tennis Hall of Fame.
ATELIER NEWPORT represents New England’s finest abstract and contemporary painters, Wellesley Professor, Bunny Harvey and Mary Dondero, selected from the Newport Museum; renowned marine painters Robert Bolster and Antonia Tyz Peeples; Pollack-Krasner grant recipient, David Barnes; Whitney Museum 2017 Artist, Richard Nocera; internationally known artists, Heinke Böhnert and Lisa Barsumian; as well as New York Academy of Arts artist, Hannah Stahl.
ATELIER NEWPORT also presents master craftsmen, Jeff Soderbergh and Chris Cobb, and IYRS boat builder, Anthony Daniels, who created a custom work-bench using reclaimed boards from the vintage 1885 ship, the Coronet. Additionally, the gallery features world famous fashion photographer Robert Farber, and acclaimed sculptors Karen Yank and JT Gibson.
Stripping away the conventional white cube, ATELIER NEWPORT has created a sanctuary, and oasis for an eclectic mix of 30 emerging and mid-career artists who have a deep connection to Newport.
Lee Valentini, President, and Creative Director, Bobbie Lemmons, who envisioned the project, felt the rich history of the International Tennis Hall of Fame would only enhance the atelier setting, and support the gallery’s mission of representing local, national and international living artists.
