LOST PATROL - SELECTED WORK
April 4 - May 19, 2021
A Solo Exhibition JT Gibson
Lost Patrol features the latest body of work of paintings and bronze sculptures by JT Gibson. In this series, Gibson deals with the emotions of friendship and loss. No one has been untouched by loss in 2020 and these abstract paintings, alongside Gibson's sculptures, suggest an articulated identity, or interconnectedness between them. The anthropological shapes and curved figures appear animated and rhythmic. Gibson's audacious paintings appear to understand, or take on the physical and visceral issues of his sculpture, as Ken Greenleaf, states below. There is symbiotic, kismet relationship between these two bodies of work; as though once one, and now separated by the physical separation of space and time.
"I have a fascination with artifacts, symbols and iconography, from the earliest cave paintings to contemporary graffiti. I'm intrigued by the human struggle and compulsion to express feelings and emotions through art. My work strives to recreate the tactile nature of walls and marks that we human travelers have left behind. I am attempting to capture what it means to be alive and a witness to our times." - JT Gibson
"JT Gibson understands the physical, visual, technical, and visceral issues of sculpture far better than most people I know. Each piece has it's own distinct and well-articulated identity, and it stays with you." - Ken Greenleaf, artist and art critic
