HOUSEGUESTS: ENDURANCE
November 13- December 12, 2021 - SELECTED WORKS
A revolving group show opening Saturday, December18th, featuring paintings by Gayle Mandle, Deborah T. Colter, Rose Umerlik, and introducing photography by Newport artist, ML Kirchner. Kirchner's photograph, The Phoenix, Frederick, is a visual metaphor for the bumps, bruises and perseverance we all endured in 2021. We celebrate the jolly, playful, and whimsical spirt of children this season.
This show focuses on female artists, women who devote their lives to the arts and their families. As we journey into a new year, we are inspired with reverence to honor women who nurture and nourish our souls with the beauty they create. We celebrate women who have navigated profound loss yet endure to share more love.
Gayle Mandle's recent paintings are inspired by her late husband, Roger Mandle, and his love of nature and gardening. That artisanal of beauty witnessed from her studio view inspired this body of work. She celebrates Roger's handiwork with a series of paintings entitled, Seasonal Quartet.
These paintings are also inspired by Roger's love of poetry. The paintings are paired with poems he had written over the years.
