ATELIER NEWPORT's summer show, Vestiges, a group exhibition, attempts to explore the trace or tiny often-physical indication of something lost or vanished. Nine artists, working in different mediums, study the vestige, or remnants left behind with an emphasis on staining, mark making, use of negative space, and residue. The empyrean, ethereal remains hint at early transcendental work in an attempt to transcend the spirit.
