“I am a printmaker and mixed media artist. My current work involves a complex process that results in an encaustic monotype with mixed media. I begin by drawing with a stick of encaustic paint on a heated plate. I press paper to the plate to make the initial, basic print. The plate is wiped clean, and further elements are drawn on the plate. I repeat this process with the initial, basic print many times until I get the desired effect. Sometimes, I also draw with ink or graphite on the print itself. In my recent series, the monotype is glued to a panel and coated with a high-gloss acrylic. This latter medium gives depth to the work.
My abstract forms are influenced by scientific discoveries. My son is a physicist and studies how gravitational waves transform and change the nature of space and time.
So too, my work artistically explores the nature of shape and placement in space.”
